Katabasis

Voyage delivery

For all those readers who asked for signed copies, the delivery has finally arrived. I will post these on Tuesday, so they should be with you by the end of the week. I hope you enjoy reading them.

In the meantime, I’ve been busy writing a couple of guest blogs and compiling another Q&A session for an American website. The first is up already and is about the katabasis – the hero’s descent into Hell (a feature that appears prominently in The Voyage of Odysseus). The other two should be up over the next couple of weeks – I’ll post links here.

    Hi Glyn,

When are you planning to launch the sixth and final book??

    Thanks

      Hi Enrique
It usually takes me two years to write a book, so we’re looking at early 2018. I’m part-time and only spend one day a week writing (it doesn’t pay well enough for me to take any more days off – see my post The Truth About Being an Author). Currently I’m still in the planning stage, but the good news is it feels to me like it’ll be a great finale to the series. I just hope fans of Odysseus and Eperitus are patient enough to wait that long!
      Best wishes,
      Glyn

I have really enjoyed the first 5 books which I have read in quick succession! I actually thought that The Voyage of Odysseus was the final book so was devastated when left with such a cliffhanger. Please get the finale finished as quickly as possible (without compromising on the quality of your writing). I have to know what happens, especially with ####. By the way killing off #### in that way was extremely cruel, I hope you can give him some happiness before the end.

      Hi Marcus
Sorry, I had to edit your post a bit to remove spoilers for other readers. Glad you enjoyed the first five books. The good news is the first draft of the sixth was completed last week and I’ve now started the editing process. I’ve also got a new publisher – Canelo – who are republishing the series as e-books. Book six (working title “The Return to Ithaca”) will then go to them for further editing and should be published as an e-book by the summer. The paperback version will be self-published and available on Amazon a month or two later.
Regarding the death you mention, unfortunately I didn’t see a way to continue with that character if I’m to keep within the bounds of the original myths. I was very fond of the character, too, but their death is a reflection of the hardships of Odysseus’s voyage home. I hope you will forgive me (you’re not the only reader to have mentioned it!)
      Best wishes,
      Glyn
